Education and Experience
1. Completion and certification of a company approved medical training course.
2. High school completion or G.E.D.
3. Valid Michigan drivers license and clean driving record. Any other requirements by company
4. No felony convictions
5. Must meet basic physical requirements for the job after a job offer has been made.
Job Summary
Operates the company wheelchair van, responsible for the safe transportation of customers from “bed to bed”. Adheres to all company policies and procedures as set forth by the company.
Requirements
1. Always displays a courteous and professional attitude while at work.
2. Maintains a neat, clean and professional appearance while at work, as established in the company dress code.
3. Responds to all request for services as assigned by the dispatcher, according to company established standards.
4. Has the ability to perform under stressful and physically demanding situations.
5. Strives for personal safety as well as the safety of those around them. The employee will be aware of and proficient in the use of P.P.E.’s, driver safety, proper lifting and moving techniques, and all other safety related issues.
6. Maintains safe and proficient operating knowledge of:
a. wheelchair van
b. wheelchair lift
c. proper wheelchair tie down techniques
d. customer safety equipment
e. communications devices
7. Maintains a thorough knowledge of the THEMS assisted transportation geographical service area.
8. Knows how to read and use a map.
9. Records all information accurately on appropriate paperwork.
10. Communicates well with people
11. Participates in company meetings and functions as required.
12. Participates in, and is responsible for, the continued improvement of THEMS assisted transportation
a. CQI
b. Constructive criticism
c. Keeping management aware of concerns
d. Informing management of any ideas that may improve service
13. Assist in the orientation of new employees
14. Maintains the equipment and work area in a clean, well stocked manner
15. Maintains consistent attendance
16. Ability to work independently, with a team attitude towards THEMS and its employees and customers
17. Demonstrates competence and a desire to continuously improve self and company
18. Maintains customer confidentiality
19. Performs all other duties as determined by appropriate management
