Geriatric Education for EMS (GEMS)

NAEMT GEMS Core Provider Course is an 8-hour classroom course for all healthcare providers, including EMTs, Paramedics, emergency responders, nurses, physician assistants and physicians.  GEMS takes all of the techniques that should be utilized with our elderly and frail patients and puts them all in to one class.

The course is designed as lecture as well as hands on exercises that give the provider so perspective into what it may be like for the elderly.

Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a certificate of completion, a wallet card recognizing them as GEMS core providers for 4 years, and 8 hours of CAPCE credit.

Cost of the course: $250 includes a GEMS book that is handed out the day of class unless you want to pick it up prior (at which time the course would need to be paid for).

Cancellation Policy: If you are unable to make it to class, please contact us at jlum@thems.org or by calling 810-985-9876 and leaving a message prior to the day of class. Registrations placed that result in a “No-Show” to class will be charged $25 cancellation fee.
