Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
NAEMT’s Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) offers continuing education program for prehospital emergency trauma care for the prehospital care provider; PHTLS courses improve the quality care to a trauma patient while decreasing mortality. The program stresses the treatment of the multi-system trauma using a unique entity with specific needs. PHTLS utilizes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care. Based on the belief that, given a good fund of knowledge and key principles, EMS practitioners are capable of making reasoned decisions regarding patient care, PHTLS utilizes the internationally recognized PHTLS textbook and covers the following topics:
Physiology of life and deathScene assessmentPatient assessmentAirwayBreathing, ventilation and oxygenationCirculation, hemorrhage and shockPatients with disabilitiesPatient simulations
PHTLS is appropriate for EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physician assistants, physicians, and other prehospital providers.
This course features hybrid learning style of online education along with the innovative hands on practical skills and group scenarios.

Class size is limited. Registration Deadline is April 20th, 2024
Cost: Free to St. Clair County First Responders through the OHSP Grant, $275.00 for out of county providers and non Fire/EMS Personnel. Cost covers a text book, lunch, and refreshments both days.
